SET UP YOUR EMAIL LIST

A common marketing strategy to keep you connected to clients and potential new clients is via email. Email provides you with direct access to your clients to let them know the services you can provide for them with your Reiki practice.

Many businesses use social media and a website to stay connected online, however other companies essentially own your social media content and can restrict how readily your message is available to clients. Additionally, your website can sometimes rely on the chance that your readers will remember to visit your website.

By have an established email list you can have more control over how you collect the details of your clients and when you choose to communicate with them.

Some important factors to consider when setting up your email list are below:

  • Select an email service – there is a variety of free and paid email service options. The price you pay will depend on your email list size and the complexity of the features that you want to use.
  • Collect email addresses – to entice new subscribers to sign up to your list, it is beneficial to provide a free offer that will show your readers the rich content that you can provide for them.
  • Contact your email list – you should create a purposeful strategy to stay in regular contact with your subscribers.

The primary goal of any email list is to keep your readers informed and engaged with your Reiki practice.

SET UP AN EMAIL SEQUENCE

An email sequence is a series of emails that you send to your list to regularly communicate information about your Reiki practice. Your emails might cover an educational topic or range of information about your Reiki practice.

An email sequence provides you with a useful strategy of communicating with your email list so that you stay connected with your clients or potential clients. An email sequence also educates your readers about your website and important information about your Reiki practice.

Regular contact with your readers helps keep them aware of your Reiki practice and how you can help them.

Your email strategy should contain the following 3 steps:

  • Welcoming your new reader and introducing them to your website and your Reiki practice.
  • Emails providing updates on your website and your Reiki business.
  • Educational and product/service series that educate your clients on the work you do as a Reiki practitioner.

You can find a more detailed email sequence strategy in the FREE DOWNLOAD Email Checklist at the end of this article.

PROMOTE YOUR EMAIL LIST

Once you have created your email list signup form on your website and set up your email sequences, you then need to promote your email list. This promotion should include the benefits for your readers to join your email list.

The best method to promote your email list is to include a free download for your readers to receive in exchange for signing up. This way your readers gets an immediate benefit to joining your list.

These free downloads can include templates, worksheets, audio files, videos, free courses, guidebooks, and workbooks. Your free offer should be available to your new email subscriber immediately so they can be instantly connected with your content.

You can also provide free offers that are provided at a later date such as physical items shipped in the mail or a free introduction call with you on the phone, however, you should ensure that your new reader does not have an extended waiting period to receive their free offer. If there is a long time between your reader subscribing to your email list and them receiving their free offer, you will run the risk of them disconnecting from your service.

You should include your free offer on various pages on your website because not everyone will arrive on the home page of your website. Readers can find your website through search engines and social media, and will often find a specific page or blog post on your website. These pages should always include a sign-up link to your email list.

The most common pages to include your email sign up form on your website include:

  • Homepage
  • Menu navigation
  • Sidebars
  • At the top of each page
  • At the bottom of each page

Remember to promote your email list and the free offer you have available on your social media pages. You can include details about the free offer and the benefits your reader will receive by signing up to your email list.

You can also include a form in your physical office for those clients who want to sign up to your email list.

SEND EMAILS TO YOUR LIST

Once your email list is set up, you can begin to create your email content that will be sent to your email list.

Below are a few tips on how you should effectively communicate with your email list:

  • Choose topics that relate to your readers/clients.
  • Set up a template for the regular emails that you send out.
  • Create a schedule for emailing your list.
  • Regularly include content and offers for your readers that are free to show them that you are there to help them.

MANAGE YOUR EMAIL LIST

You want your email list to remain active with readers who are engaged in your content. If you are paying an email service provider based on how many subscribers you have on your list, you will want to ensure your list contains only emails that are active and engaged.

Over time a number of issues can occur with email subscribers which will require you to conduct from maintenance of your email list:

  • Readers may change their email address
  • Readers may forget to remove an old address
  • Readers inbox may become full and not receive any further emails
  • Readers may become uninterested in your content
  • Readers may have spam and junk filters in place that stop your emails from being delivered

Email providers provide tools to help you analyze the effectiveness of your email communication. Reports can show you email addresses that are no longer working and need to be removed. You can also view statistics showing whether your emails are being opened and which links in your emails are being clicked by your readers.

These statistics can show you the most popular emails which you can then use as a guide to write future emails.

If your readers don’t actively engage by reading your content, you may choose to remove those email addresses from your list. It is not useful to have a large list of email addresses if no one is reading your content or not purchasing your products and services.

If a reader does not engage in reading your content, this is a good time to reflect on whether you are serving the needs of your audience. You may also find a reader’s interest has changed over time. For example a reader may have originally signed up to your list based on a single blog post they found on your website at one time, however, they may decide that the content is not relevant beyond that original piece.

Like any digital information, content needs to be edited and managed so that it stays relevant to your needs.
